When we started building the company of Cactux, we have set as one of our goals to contribute to technology transfer from universities. A certain part of our product portfolio, CT phantoms, is based on the long-term CT LAB research conducted on CEITEC BUT. The idea of including phantoms in production was brought to us by our colleague Jakub Šalplachta, now our Chief Technological Officer.

The use of a phantom can improve your CT analysis, especially submicron CT, process in different ways, depending on the type of phantom used. Our phantoms and dedicated sample’s holders move the limits of high-resolution CT on a daily basis. The main advantages of the use of our phantoms are:

  • metrological calibration of CT systems,
  • characterization of CT systems, such as the spatial resolution,
  • reduction of CT artifacts and geometrical misalignments.

The aim of the Spirit Series is to provide customers tools for metrological characterization and calibration of their CT devices.

The Voxel-Spirit is developed for nanoCT applications. Its calibration/distance measurement capabilities are certified by METAS. The phantom allows the CT technician/researcher to calibrate the voxel size even for Field of Views (FOV) below one millimetre. Among other things, the Voxel-Spirit phantom was designed to reduce the calibration time and make the nanoCT analysis process quicker and smoother.

The aim of the Spirit Series is to provide customers tools for metrological characterization and calibration of their CT devices.

The Resolution Spirit can be utilized for both nanoCT and microCT systems. With the option of four different sizes, the phantoms provide adaptability to the user depending on the CT scanner used. Therefore, the precise spatial resolution can be achieved with different CT scanners, all according to the ASTM E1695-95 standard.

The aim of Shadow series is to develop tools, that would allow to reduce the limits of current CT technology.

The R1-Shadow is an advanced sample’s holder for both nanoCT and microCT applications, that was specifically developed to allow for correction of CT system’s geometrical misalignment and implementation of advanced CT such as Dual-Energy CT or 4D CT.

This phantom can be used on lab-based CT systems, but also on synchrotron-based facilities. With it, the user can:

  • enhance the CT data quality and precision, reduce CT artifacts,
  • practically implement advanced CT techniques such as Dual-Energy CT or 4D CT to retrieve complete information about the sample,
  • correct rotational stage inaccuracies.
